New Larnaca International Airport Now Officially Open
Finally, the time has come to live the experience! Boasting an increase in size from 22.100 sqm to 100.000 and boosting the passenger capacity from 3.2m annually to 7.5m, the new Larnaca airport promises to bring new and improved facilities to travellers visiting our island.
Boarding gates and check in counters have been significantly increased. From improved and expanded baggage handling capabilities, to a new location with immediate access to highways and improved parking it promises to make arrival and departure from Cyprus even more trouble free.
When coupled with the short distances between places in Cyprus, business travel and local transport becomes even easier. There are also more leisure areas and shops as well as an additional VIP lounge. The entire facility has been built to the highest specifications with advanced facilities and technology, and a modern aesthetically pleasing design.
We hope you get to experience our new & improved Larnaca airport facilities soon and would love to hear your comments and personal experiences of our new airport.

Four Seasons Hotel Achieves Investors in People Accreditation
The Four Seasons, in Cyprus, one of Premier DMC’s top luxury hotel partners, has now become the first hotel on the island to gain the Investors in People accreditation, it is the Hallmark of Best Practice in the field of Human Resource Management.

Investors in people is the UKs leading people management standard, providing a simple and flexible framework to help thousands of organisations of all sizes and sectors to improve their business performance. For Andreas Loizou who is the hotel Human Resources and Quality Director who spearheaded their challenge it was a natural extension of the already well established recruitment and employment policy at the hotel. The objectives of the standard blend seamlessly with the almost tangible work ethic that is lived and breathed in the hotel dovetailing with existing incentive and award schemes that they operate. The underlying rationale is simple: a contented workforce makes for happy guests, that means good business, which in turn helps create and sustain a contented workforce! The Investors in People standard is another tool that will help the hotel team keep up this circle!

At Premier DMC, where we always say that ‘It’s All About People’, having important partners like the Four Seasons Team also exemplify this thinking is important to us, as we know that our clients ultimately benefit from these initiatives.

Cyprus Christmas: Our Customs and Traditions
Christmas in Cyprus is almost always in the sunshine. Temperatures during the day are usually around 20 degrees and for this reason the Christmas period is a popular holiday time for visitors to Cyprus, who seek to enjoy the seasonal traditions whilst taking a well earned break!

Christmas is also a religious holiday and on Christmas Eve many families will go to church. In the run up to Christmas, children will visit houses to sing Christmas carols, known as ‘kalanda’. New Year celebrations in Cyprus involve cutting the New Year Cake (Vasilopitta) which has a coin hidden in it and is equally shared amongst everyone who is present, and the person who finds the coin in their piece will have luck all year round.

In Cyprus, the festive period traditionally involves a lot of cooking! Traditional turkey with stuffing (although our stuffing is normally rice cooked with delicious chestnuts) and we of course also enjoy our spit-roasted lamb on the charcoal barbecue (known as ‘souvla’) on Christmas Day. We also have traditional Christmas cake, and local cakes such as ‘kourabiedes’ ( small almond cakes coated in icing sugar), and ‘melomakarona’, a delicious ‘melt in your mouth’ cake with honey.

Many hotels in Cyprus offer Christmas and New Year dinners with entertainment, music and dancing, activities for the family with a festive feel and visits from Santa Claus at children’s Christmas parties. As well as catering for the many tourists who flock to Cyprus to enjoy Christmas, the locals also choose to celebrate with friends and family at the hotels and the parties tend to be hugely entertaining and fun and will go on until the early hours of the morning!
At Premier we also offer Christmas party planning and event services for corporate clients or those wishing to plan for a special occasion. For more information you can contact us on email.
